Job summary

Cheney Brothers, Inc. in Miami, FL is seeking a Fish Cutter to join our seafood production team. You will cut, pack, inspect fish, and operate processing equipment to meet daily production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 3 years of fish cutting experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Start times are early morning, with a 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM window, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Process/Cut & pack fish to order according to schedule and product specs.

• Receive and inspect fish for quality; maintain stock levels on production line.
• Identify product forms by sight and pack according to specifications (type, boxes, labels).
• Adhere to SOPs, GMPs, and sanitation requirements; ensure food safety.

Position Purpose

Cuts, packs, and inspects fish products according to daily production requirements. Operates and maintains processing equipment, ensures product quality, and follows packaging specifications. Maintains a clean and safe work area while complying with all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures. Performs additional tasks as directed to support production operations.

Major Functional Responsibilities

• Process/Cut & pack fish to order schedule specifications of fish cuts either by variety of hand tools or by various machines in seafood processing environment
• Sharpen and adjust cutting/processing equipment. Start-up and shut down equipment.
• Receive and inspect fish to ensure quality with no defects or abnormalities. Maintain proper stock levels on production line.
• Identify various product forms by sight and pack each product according to specifications (type of product, boxes, labels, etc.)
• Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs, procedures and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
• Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience: 3 years of fish cutting experience

Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50lbs, pushing/pulling up to 50lbs.

Skills:

• Ability to work in cold and wet environments.
• Must be able to work in varying temperatures per department between 32 F to 80F +
• Ability to perform repeated tasks with attention to detail.
• Willing to perform all tasks when and where assigned and as changing situations arise.
• Ability to understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Team player with professional, positive attitude and good work ethics.

Compensation

$28.00 per hour
