Job summary

Cheney Brothers, Inc. in Miami seeks a Fish Processing/Packaging Associate to portion and pack fish to order, inspect product, and maintain HACCP safety standards in a fast-paced facility.

You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to completion, typically around 5 PM, with pay at $16 per hour and benefits starting Day 1. The role emphasizes detail and teamwork.

This position involves lifting up to 50 lbs and working in cold environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year experience in packing, production line, manufacturing, prep cook or related work.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold environments.

Responsibilities

• Process and pack fish to order schedule specifications using hand tools or machines.
• Prep fish to specifications for fish cutters (opening cases, staging, scaling).
• Receive and inspect fish to ensure quality and maintain stock on the production line.
• Identify product forms by sight and pack per specifications (type, boxes, labels).
• Adhere to SOPs, GMPs, safety, quality and sanitation requirements (HACCP).
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
• Label, wrap and identify products per procedures.
• Check product quality daily following HACCP guidelines.

Position Purpose

Processes and packs fish products using hand tools and machines according to order specifications. Inspects, preps, and labels fish while following safety, sanitation, and company procedures in a clean and organized work environment.

Major Functional Responsibilities

• Process & pack fish to order schedule specifications of fish cuts either by a variety of hand tools or by various machines in seafood processing environment
• Prep fish to various specifications for fish cutters, this will include opening cases, staging, scaling, etc.
• Receive and inspect fish to ensure quality with no defects or abnormalities. Maintain proper stock levels on production line.
• Identify various product forms by sight and pack each product according to specifications (type of product, boxes, labels, etc.)
• Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs, procedures and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
• Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
• Correctly identify, label & wrap product per established procedures
• Check the quality of product daily following established procedures & HACCP guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience: 1+ year of experience in packing, production Line, manufacturing, prep cook or other related experience.

Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50lbs, pushing/pulling up to 50lbs.

Skills

Ability to work in cold and wet environments.

Must be able to work in varying temperatures per department between 32 F to 80F +

Ability to perform repeated tasks with attention to detail.

Willing to perform all tasks when and where assigned and as changing situations arise.

Ability to understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Ability to perform basic math skills.

Team player with professional, positive attitude and good work ethics.

Compensation

$16.00 per hour
