Job summary

Pliant seeks a senior Site Reliability Engineer to establish a dedicated SRE function from the ground up. You will standardize reliability practices, create SLOs and post-mortem processes, and hire the initial engineers to run the program.

Your leadership will shift reliability from firefighting to an integral part of development. In this role, you will own incident management, drive production readiness, and partner with product teams to embed reliability.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of engineering experience.
• At least 3 years directly managing engineers.
• Proven track record hiring and developing engineers.
• Hands-on production or reliability engineering background.
• Strong AWS and Terraform experience.
• Experience building on-call rotations and incident management.
• Observability expertise and strong dashboards.
• Clear cross-team communication skills.
• Track record of pushing reliability into product engineering.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Define the framework for SLOs and error budgets for multiple services.
• Own blameless post-mortems and root-cause analysis.
• Implement production readiness reviews before new deployments.
• Close gaps in observability, alerts, dashboards, and on-call pages.
• Hire and build the Site Reliability team from the ground up.
