Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Firearms Sales Associate to deliver expert product knowledge and outstanding service in our firearms department. You will greet customers, assess needs, advise on ammunition and accessories, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

You will maintain attractive displays, process transactions, stay current on trends, and participate in training to grow with Rural King. We offer a safety‑focused, team‑oriented environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; firearms safety training is a plus.
• Experience in firearms sales or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local firearms laws and transfers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage customers.
• Active listening and ability to respond clearly and thoroughly.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational proficiency.
• Proficiency with computer systems for transaction processing and record-keeping.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, secure shopping environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and create a welcoming department atmosphere.
• Engage customers to understand needs and budget constraints.
• Provide expert guidance and unbiased product recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with firearms laws and store SOPs.
• Assist in selecting ammunition and related products.
• Maintain organized firearm displays with accurate labeling and pricing.
• Process transactions accurately and manage documentation.
• Stay updated on firearm models, trends, and industry news.
• Resolve customer questions or escalate to supervisor when needed.
• Build long-term relationships to generate repeat business and referrals.
• Demonstrate product features and conduct demonstrations when appropriate.
• Utilize upselling and cross-selling techniques to boost sales.
• Promote RKFPPP and store loyalty program.
• Handle special orders, operate POS, and address returns.
• Contribute to visual merchandising and store cleanliness.
• Participate in cross-training and ongoing training initiatives.
• Provide proactive internal and external support as needed.
