Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to create layout drawings for commercial, industrial, and residential sprinkler systems. The ideal candidate will understand fire protection codes, hydraulics, and CAD software, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to meet safety standards and client requirements.

The position requires 3+ years in fire sprinkler design, AutoCAD experience, and NICET certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, drafting or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design and AutoCAD.
• Experience using Autodesk CAD software – AutoCAD; Autodesk Revit; Autodesk Navisworks; AutoSPRINK; BIM 360.
• NICET certification (Level II or higher) in Water-Based Systems Layout preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply fire protection codes and standards to the design of fire sprinkler systems, water supplies, pumps, standpipes, foam systems, and water storage tanks.
• Read and interpret Architectural, Structural, and MEP blueprints/PDFs, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings.
• Confer with engineers/consultants or other personnel to layout a code-compliant fire sprinkler system.
• Coordinate and monitor aspects of production, including fabrication, installation issues, and inspection comments.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, drafting or related field preferred

NICET certification (Level II or higher) in Water-Based Systems Layout preferred
