Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to create and refine layout drawings for sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. You will interpret blueprints, perform hydraulic calculations, and ensure compliance with NFPA and local codes.

The role collaborates with project managers, engineers, and contractors to deliver safe, cost-effective designs. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD tools is required, with NICET certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associated or bachelor’s degree in engineering/drafting preferred.
• 3+ years of fire sprinkler design experience and AutoCAD proficiency.
• NICET Level II+ in Water-Based Systems Layout preferred; familiarity with NFPA and local codes.

Responsibilities

• Apply fire protection codes and standards to design sprinkler systems and associated water supplies.
• Read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings and prepare working layouts.
• Conduct hydraulic calculations and prepare material lists for job sites.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure code-compliant designs.
• Assist in preparing proposal documents and technical data.
