Job summary
IMEG in Urbandale, IA is seeking a Fire Protection Project Designer to lead design efforts for fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems on buildings. You will manage projects or serve as lead engineer on low to moderate complexity work, collaborating with senior staff to meet client goals and budgets.
The role requires strong engineering calculations, BIM-enabled design, and mentoring junior staff, with travel up to 10% and coordination through bidding and construction
Qualifications
- BS in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Eng.
- EIT certification preferred.
- NICET II/III certification preferred.
- 3+ years of building design consulting experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead design for fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control.
- Create detailed designs, specs, calculations per code and IMEG standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and consultants on engineering solutions.
- Interact with clients to gather requirements and build relationships.
- Support project execution, budgeting, scheduling to meet deadlines.
- Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor progress.
- Provide in-process design reviews of systems and specs.
- Implement quality control to meet standards and client needs.
- Train and mentor cross-functional teams; ensure safety.
