Job summary

IMEG Corporation is seeking a Fire Protection Project Designer in Urbandale, IA. You will lead design efforts for fire alarm, suppression, and smoke control systems, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with cross‑functional teams.

You will manage budgeting and scheduling, interact with clients to capture requirements, and ensure compliance with IMEG standards and codes. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent.
• NICET Level II/III certification in Fire Alarm or Water-Based Systems Layout.
• 3–4 years minimum in building design consulting; more is preferred.
• Associates degree or BIM certificate with NICET Level II/III as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for fire alarm, suppression, and smoke control systems.
• Create designs, specs and calculations per codes and IMEG standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to provide solutions and client outcomes.
• Interact with clients to gather requirements and build relationships.
• Support budgeting, scheduling, and project execution to deadlines.
• Document design decisions and monitor progress and fees.
• Train and mentor staff; ensure safety and risk mitigation.
• Oversee bidding and construction administration processes.
