Job summary

IMEG Corporation in Des Moines, IA invites applications for a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program. You will assist with design portions of fire protection systems, budget support, and cross-functional coordination with multiple disciplines on real projects.

Early-career engineers gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and potential full-time opportunities, while contributing to public-safety and federal facility projects in an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Two years toward BS in Fire Protection Engineering or related field is required
• Prior internship in building design is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of fire protection systems for building projects according to code and IMEG standards
• Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources
• Support project budgeting and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
• Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
• Coordinate design and schedule information with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support contract-required services
