Job summary

IMEG Corp is offering a Summer 2027 Fire Protection Engineering Intern position in Des Moines, IA. You will work 10–12 weeks on real project work, under mentorship, supporting design, budgeting, and cross-disciplinary coordination.

The internship includes paid compensation, guided mentorship, and a potential path to full-time roles within a 100% employee-owned firm, with exposure across multiple offices and disciplines.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent.
• Prior internship in building design consulting preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiar with AutoCAD and BIM software; clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of fire protection systems for building projects per code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources.
• Support project budgeting and coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet goals.
• Maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent records.
