Job summary

Summit Fire & Security in Birmingham, AL is seeking a field inspector to inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems, pumps, and backflows with minimal supervision, ensuring NFPA compliance and reliable performance.

You will coordinate scheduled inspections, report deficiencies to customers, communicate professionally, support toolbox talks, and participate in on-call duties and safety programs.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience inspecting fire protection systems
• Experience inspecting fire protection systems may include NFPA code knowledge
• Must be able to work alone and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems per NFPA codes
• Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and customers
• Communicate with customers and internal teams in a professional manner
• Operate inspection tools (heat/smoke detector kit, backflow kit, pumps)
• Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled
• On-call status as required by location to handle emergencies and inspections
• Maintain company-provided vehicle and ensure tools are safeguarded
• Follow SFS Safety program, SDS, Hazardous communication policies, and attend toolbox talks
