Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern to join our team in the Boston and Stamford areas. You will work on tasks within a larger design group under close supervision, performing fire protection analyses, CAD/BIM layout, and documentation for design reports.

The role involves building and life safety code research, hydraulics calculations, and field surveys, with opportunities to learn REVIT/AutoCAD and other design tools in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects (design of sprinklers/standpipes, water supply, hazaradous systems).
• Perform basic calculations and use standard software for engineering design.
• Review codes and standards for compliance.
• Support design drawings, specifications, presentations and reports.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams under supervision.
• Assist during construction including submittals, RFIs, and site observations.
• Participate in site visits and field observations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior staff.
