Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Fire Protection New Graduate in Des Moines, IA. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with mentorship and training from day one.

You will assist with the design and analysis of fire protection systems, collaborate with a project team, and grow technical expertise across public-safety, industrial, and federal facilities. Travel up to 5% is possible.

Qualifications

• Education: BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Internship in building design consulting preferred
• EIT license preferred
• NICET Level I/II certification preferred in Fire Alarm or Water-Based Systems Layout

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of fire alarm, fire suppression, and smoke control systems, using engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
• Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build professional relationships
• Work as part of a project team to support consulting projects and assist with project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
• Assist with documenting design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
• Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions with support from senior engineers and consultants
• Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
• Participate in quality control processes to help ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in fire protection engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
• Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and helping mitigate potential safety risks associated with fire protection systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
