Job summary
CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. You will design fire protection systems, perform life safety analyses, and ensure compliance with NFPA, UFC, and local codes while supporting federal projects. This role offers a hybrid work environment with potential office bases in multiple U.S.
locations. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with sales on proposals, and perform site assessments to align with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
- PE license required or equivalent professional registration.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop fire protection designs including sprinklers and alarms.
- Act as QFPE for federal projects and life safety analyses.
- Review designs for compliance and sign off on drafts.
- Create life-safety studies and egress analyses as needed.
- Evaluate systems with HydraCAD/HydraCALC software.
- Ensure NFPA/UFC and local code compliance on projects.
- Collaborate with sales on proposals and client meetings.
- Conduct site assessments and participate in conferences.
- Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers.
