Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and review fire protection systems for diverse projects. You will serve as a technical lead on life-safety aspects and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Based in the US, you will work on projects requiring strong design skills, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with sales and clients, including mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs: layouts, basis-of-design, water/hydraulic analyses, plans for fire sprinkler systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects: life safety, fire suppression and alarm design.
• Review designs for compliance with federal/state/local regs and sign off.
• Create fire protection and life safety designs and evaluations as needed.
• Evaluate systems using HydraCAD/HydraCALC or similar software.
• Collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs and review proposals for compliance.
• Meet with clients to review design needs and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
