Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a talented Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. You will develop fire protection designs, perform life safety analyses, and review drafts to ensure NFPA, UFC, and local codes are met on federal and commercial projects.

This role supports a hybrid work environment with assignments across multiple offices and site visits. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with sales and project teams, and help shape resilient infrastructure for communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required.
• 7 years of related experience or equivalent.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection engineering designs (sprinkler, suppression, pumps, alarms).
• Act as QFPE for federal projects and ensure life safety and fire protection compliance.
• Review designs for NFPA, UFC and local regulations and sign off on completed work.
• Collaborate with sales and project teams on proposals and client reviews.
• Mentor junior staff and oversee project work as needed.
