Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking Fire Protection Engineers (EITs) to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Team. The role focuses on designing fire protection systems, performing calculations, and coordinating with architects and engineers across projects in the United States.

Entry‑level engineers will work under supervision to gain professional experience. The position requires a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or related field, with 0–3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Zero to three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) / Engineering Intern (EI) preferred, working toward Fire Protection Professional Engineer licensure.

Responsibilities

• Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering to support design of fire suppression, detection, and egress systems.
• Perform basic calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
• Gather information to support design decisions.
• Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports.
• Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Work with other architecture and engineering professionals in project coordination.
• Assist team in providing support during construction, including submittal reviews and inspections.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
