Job summary

Stantec is seeking Fire Protection Engineers (FPEs) to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Team. You will design fire protection systems, perform analyses, and collaborate with architects and engineers across multiple locations in the United States.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, 0–3 years of experience, and EIT/EI preferred while working toward PE licensure. Office work with field exposure and BIM/CAD experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering discipline with coursework in Fire Protection
• Zero to three years of related work experience or equivalent
• Engineer in Training (EIT) / Engineering Intern (EI) preferred, pursuing Fire Protection PE licensure
• Field work may include exposure to the elements and inclement weather

Responsibilities

• Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering to support projects such as design of fire suppression, detection, alarm, and smoke control systems
• Perform basic calculations using standard and proprietary software
• Gather information to support design decisions
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports
• Coordinate with other design professionals and participate in project delivery under a senior engineer
• Assist during construction with submittals, RFIs, and progress inspections
