Job summary

Stantec’s Building group is seeking Fire Protection Engineers (EITs) to join our North America team. They design fire protection systems, model fire behavior, prepare design documents with CAD/BIM, and perform commissioning to ensure compliance with codes for life safety and property protection.

EIT/EI preferred, BS in Fire Protection Engineering, 0–3 years’ experience, and willingness to work across multiple U.S. locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or closely related discipline with emphasis in Fire Protection coursework.
• Zero to three years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred, working towards licensure.
• Office environment with potential field exposure to the elements.

Responsibilities

• Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support design of fire protection systems.
• Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using standard software.
• Gather information to support design decisions.
• Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Verify compliance with codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Collaborate with other design professionals in project delivery under supervision of a senior engineer.
• Support construction phase activities including submittal reviews and on-site inspections.
