Job summary

Stantec is seeking Fire Protection Engineers to join our North America team in multiple locations. You will design and document fire protection systems, model fire scenarios, and support construction with CAD/BIM tools.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Fire Protection Engineering with up to 3 years of experience, EIT preferred, and strong writing and collaboration skills to deliver safe, code-compliant projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or closely related field.
• 0–3 years of related work experience; EIT preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes and building fire codes; familiarity with fire protection principles.
• Proficiency with CAD/BIM workflows and basic modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Apply concepts of fire protection engineering to support design of fire suppression, detection, and smoke control systems.
• Perform basic calculations using standard software and manufacturer tools.
• Gather information to inform design decisions and drawings.
• Assist in preparing designs, drawings, specs, and reports for projects.
• Verify compliance with codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Coordinate with architecture and engineering teams under a senior engineer.
• Support construction phase services including submittals, RFIs, and inspections.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior staff.
