Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Design Manager located near Roanoke, VA, with the understanding that the role is headquartered in Richmond, VA.

Qualified candidates should be willing to relocate to Richmond if offered the position, with relocation assistance provided. The role focuses on supervising design/BIM for new construction sprinkler projects and coordinating with field teams.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in fire protection designer and/or equivalent
• NICET Level II certification preferred but not required
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' jurisdiction requirements
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD, AutoCAD design software or other fire protection design software
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Word and Excel
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Project management duties for each project and/or delegation to team members
• Review design drawings for compliance with NFPA codes and project specs
• Review material submittals for NFPA compliance
• Review hydraulic calculations for NFPA compliance
• Coordinate material delivery with customer and field superintendent
• Supervise designers and monitor design hours for profitability
• Coordinate and resolve design conflicts with field superintendent
• Lead kickoff meetings with superintendent and field crews
• Review and approve vendor material invoices for construction
