Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Fire Protection Design Manager to oversee design/BIM for new construction sprinkler projects. The role requires supervising designers, ensuring NFPA compliance, and coordinating with field teams.

Strong CAD skills and knowledge of NFPA standards are essential. The position offers full-time employment with potential relocation support to HQ in Richmond, VA and possible initial work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in fire protection designer and/or equivalent
• NICET II certification preferred but not required
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' jurisdiction requirements
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications
• Proficient in Windows-based CAD and AutoCAD design software
• Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and delegate to team members
• Review design drawings for NFPA/code compliance
• Review material submittals and hydraulic calculations for compliance
• Coordinate with field superintendent and suppliers
• Supervise design team and review drawings for department standards
• Monitor design hours for profitability and efficiency
• Lead kickoff meetings and FP department meetings
• Coordinate with A/E on shop drawings and permits
• Maintain project design files and support FP sales with bid takeoffs
• Ensure safety procedures and incident reporting are followed
