Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Design Manager to lead the design and BIM aspects of new construction sprinkler projects.

You will supervise design staff, ensure compliance with NFPA codes and project specs, and drive efficient project execution from concept through construction. Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years of fire protection design experience, strong supervisory track record, and proficiency in AutoCAD and related design software.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in fire protection design
• Prior supervisor/management experience
• NICET Level II certification (preferred)
• Understanding of NFPA and local authorities' requirements
• Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications
• Proficient in AutoCAD or other fire protection design software
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and spatial awareness
• Strong MS Word and Excel skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
• Strong negotiation and problem-resolution skills
• Able to multi-task and follow instructions

Responsibilities

• Oversee project management duties for each project and delegate to team
• Review design drawings for NFPA code compliance and project specs
• Review material submittals for NFPA code conformity
• Review hydraulic calculations for code compliance
• Procure and review material stock lists for construction projects
• Coordinate material delivery with customer and field superintendent
• Supervise designers and ensure schedules
• Review designer drawings for department standards
• Monitor design hours for profitability and efficiency
• Coordinate shop drawing process with A/E
• Maintain project design files and coordinate with FP service staff
• Lead kickoff meetings and FP department meetings
• Assist FP sales with bid takeoffs as needed
• Review and resolve design conflicts with field superintendent
• Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
• Perform other duties as assigned
