Job summary

Johnson Controls in Hauppauge, NY area is seeking a Project Manager to oversee fire alarm, security, communications, and sprinkler installation projects in commercial, educational, healthcare and industrial facilities. You will manage from inception to completion, develop plans, and coordinate with clients, architects, and engineers.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in a technical or business field, at least five years of project management in fire protection or related fields, strong Excel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or equivalent field.
• Five years fire protection, construction, alarm/detection, or related project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and understand complex building architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both with internal and external customers.
• Possess a strong and active working knowledge of MS Excel. Be able to create tracking spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets and create macros.
• Must be organized, detail oriented and self-motivating.
• Must have the ability to interact effectively with employees and customers in difficult situations.
• Able to travel at least 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Manage fire alarm, security, communications, and sprinkler installation projects in commercial, educational, healthcare and industrial facilities.
• Oversee and communicate project progression from inception to completion including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
• Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets.
• Conduct Work in Progress meetings.
• Understand AHJ requirements and departmental/SOX procedures.
• Convey a sense of professionalism, fairness, and concern for customers, labor and management.
• Collaborates closely with Sales representatives to support client relationships, identify project requirements, and drive customer satisfaction.
