Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to service and repair electronic fire alarm systems on customer sites. You will diagnose issues, follow manuals, and coordinate with customers for efficient, safe system restoration.

You will work across multiple manufacturers, interpret blueprints, and perform installation tasks while supporting on-call rotations and maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment, including multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and professional approach.
• Ability to perform physical labor up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in ladders, scaffolding, high-lift up to 40 feet, ducts and crawl spaces.
• Flexibility to work weekends.
• Maintain truck inventory.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Retain licenses as required by codes.
• NICET Level III certification.
• Experience with CCTV and IT/IP networks.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls and diagnose equipment or system malfunctions.
• Contact customer representatives to understand issues.
• Diagnose and repair electronic fire alarm systems and related building products.
• Follow manuals and notices to repair equipment.
• Service and install Fire & Life Safety systems from multiple manufacturers, including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read blueprints and technical documentation.
• Provide excellent customer service and support satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding via mobile devices.
• Obtain customer signatures after service.
• Participate in on-call rotation and mentor others as needed.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to improve facility performance and quote support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
