Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking skilled technicians to service and repair fire alarm systems and related building systems at customer sites. You’ll diagnose issues, read schematics, and follow manuals to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Responsibilities include on-site servicing, on-call rotation, and mentoring teammates. A strong customer-service mindset, driving results and flexibility with hours are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Physically capable to lift 50-70 lbs.
• Flexible hours including weekends; on-call 2-3 days per month.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from Service Resource Center and diagnose issues.
• Contact customer representative to ascertain equipment problems.
• Diagnose problems and repair fire alarm and related building systems.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and manuals to repair equipment.
• Service, troubleshoot and install fire & life safety systems including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and manuals.
• Maintain excellent customer service and satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements via mobile devices.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation.
• Mentor other service team members.
• Provide solutions to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Program fire alarm, security, and access control panels; CCTV/IT/IP networks a plus.
