Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a skilled field service technician to diagnose and repair Fire/Life Safety systems at customer sites in the U.S. You will handle on-site installations, readings, and troubleshooting, ensuring high customer satisfaction.

The role requires reading blueprints, using test equipment and commissioning devices, and occasionally working on-call. Safety and strong communication are essential to success in dynamic building environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in low voltage electrical systems including Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
• NICET II certification preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Knowledge of test equipment (multimeter, digital analyzer) and commissioning devices.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Physically able to lift 50–70 lbs and work in challenging positions.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from the Resource Center and identify issues.
• Contact customer representative to ascertain problems.
• Diagnose and repair fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and refer to manuals and bulletins.
• Service, troubleshoot and install Fire & Life Safety systems including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs, and programs.
• Maintain strong customer service and communicate with staff to ensure satisfaction.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding.
• Join on-call rotation and assist training of teammates.
• Provide quotes and recommendations to improve facility efficiency.
