Job summary

Grasshopper Bank is seeking a Fintech Risk Associate to independently drive risk-management activities across our Banking-as-a-Service portfolio. You will act as a trusted risk advisor to executives, fintech partners, and internal stakeholders, owning due diligence, monitoring, remediation, and cross-functional initiatives.

You will lead risk-based assessments, track remediation, and ensure compliance with BSA/AML, sanctions, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Typically 5–8 years of experience in banking, fintech, risk management, or related fields with independent risk assessments.
• Strong experience with financial crimes compliance, including BSA/AML and sanctions.
• Working knowledge of banking and payments compliance and data privacy requirements.
• Experience with Third-Party Risk Management and interagency guidance from the OCC, FDIC, and Fed.
• Ability to manage external relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
• Proven project-management, analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk-based due diligence for prospective fintech partners and present findings to senior management.
• Own pre- and post-launch risk and compliance requirements for new partners.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring, testing, and risk reviews for assigned partners.
• Track findings and remediation plans to closure and escalate material issues.
• Serve as primary risk and compliance contact for fintech partners.
• Develop understanding of each partner’s business model and risk profile.
• Evaluate products and partnerships for risk, compliance, and operational considerations.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to assess risks and implement controls.
• Own cross-functional initiatives from scope through implementation.
• Maintain prioritized roadmap for control gaps and governance materials.
• Monitor fintech developments and assess implications for BaaS portfolio.
