Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife Research is seeking a Financial Accountant II in College Station, TX. The role audits accounts payable, ensures compliance, and supports department offices and vendors. You will handle daily check production and coordinate with Disbursements to resolve issues.

Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field) with 2 años of related experience is preferred; experience with Aggie Buy, Concur, and FAMIS is a plus. This staff position offers strong benefits.

Position Information

Responsibilities

• Audits accounts payable documents for payment using Aggie Buy and FAMIS for Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and TVMDL. Documents and transactions are audited to ensure compliance with AgriLife, TAMUS, State and Federal procedures and purchasing rules and regulations.
• Responsible for daily check production/distribution.
• Provides customer support to department business offices. Answers inquiries from departments/units concerning purchasing guidelines and regulations. Contact vendors to assist departments/units in rectifying any vendor discrepancies. Report status of payments to departments/units or clients as needed.
• Audit/Review Oversight system for potential audit issues. Audit/review is compared with data in AggieBuy, Emburse and FAMIS. Coordinate with departments and Disbursements to clear or resolve any problems.
• Assists all Disbursements staff in other duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience plus an additional two (2) years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or closely related field. Two (2) years of accounting experience in a fiscal office. Experience with AggieBuy (web-based e-Commerce system) and Concur (e-Travel and payment card system). Expenditure (accounts payable and travel) audit experience with TAMUS member.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs. Ability to use standard office equipment and computers. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of Aggie Buy, Concur, FAMIS and USAS. Familiarity with Texas A&M AgriLife. Knowledge of disbursements department policies, procedures and practices. Knowledge of existing Texas State purchasing and travel rules and regulations.
