Job summary

Somewhere is seeking a hands-on Finance Lead / Controller to work with the COO and CEO as the company scales toward a Series B. This remote role spans controllership, FP&A and strategic finance/fundraising support, with a focus on accuracy, forecasting and investor-ready reporting.

The ideal candidate combines a strong accounting/controller foundation with meaningful FP&A and fundraising experience, ideally in a venture-backed, high-growth environment, comfortable with executive collaboration

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in finance, FP&A, controllership or related discipline.
• Strong financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
• Experience developing forecasts and translating operational assumptions into financial models.
• Experience preparing management-level financial reporting and analysis.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship between the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Experience with financial controls and scalable finance processes.
• Experience supporting a high-growth or rapidly scaling organization.
• Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting, due diligence or data-room preparation is desirable.
• Ability to prepare financial information for executives, investors and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify discrepancies or weaknesses in financial information.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the monthly close process in partnership with accounting resources.
• Review P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, reconciliations and other close outputs for accuracy.
• Bridge accounting outputs into management, board, investor and lender reporting.
• Coordinate with accounting, tax, audit and external finance partners as needed.
• Own and maintain our financial model, rolling forecast, budget and cash planning.
• Partner with functional leaders to develop and challenge operating assumptions.
• Produce monthly actual vs. forecast and variance analysis.
• Build scenario models and ad hoc analyses around growth and margins.
• Develop management reporting and KPIs for better visibility into performance.
• Support the financial workstream for our Series B fundraising and investor data room.
