Job summary

ACRT, Inc. is seeking energetic forestry professionals for a Consulting Utility Forester role, suitable for entry level and seasoned candidates with forestry-related education and field experience.

You will identify and inspect vegetation along utility lines, submit recommendations to clients, and coordinate line-clearance crews across varied terrain. Responsibilities include directing crews, negotiating access, and acting as a liaison between clients, crews and customers.

Qualifications

• 2 year or 4 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or closely related field OR in lieu of a degree, high school diploma/GED plus 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related field.
• High school diploma/GED requirement can be waived for 5 years UVM experience.
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• ISA Certified Arborist/TRAQ/ISA Utility Specialist preferred
• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with GIS integrated data collection software/hardware preferred
• Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, production oriented
• Candidate must be comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation related activities
• Candidate must be able to work with stakeholders, utility customers and line clearance vendors and have excellent interpersonal skills
• Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-tasking and strong time management skills required
• Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules
• Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines.
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned tree clearance crews.
• Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues.
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers.
