Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years of verifiable experience operating backhoe, excavator, loader and skidsteer.
• Field experience with trenching near existing utilities.
• Experience handling trench boxes, placing steel plates, and digging in confined spaces.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
• Two years of water/wastewater construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Must pass OSHA safety training with annual refreshers.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, perform activities related to all phases of water and wastewater system utility construction.
• Observe and comply with federal, state, and company safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
• Operate backhoe, excavator, loader and skidsteer and train others.
• Maintain and service construction equipment daily.
• Keep daily records of maintenance and service performed.
• Follow safety procedures for construction equipment and trench safety.
• Perform trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and soil compaction as per plans.
• Work safely and efficiently; duties are repetitive and ongoing.
• Distribute materials to locations per plans; coordinate with other operators.
• Clean sites to eliminate hazards and perform other duties as assigned.
