Job summary

RMS Energy in Kentucky is seeking a Transformer Test Technician II to perform advanced transformer testing, troubleshooting, and documentation in field projects across the U.S. You’ll work independently or with a crew to ensure reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, knowledge of transformer oil work, Load Tap Changers, and strong technical drawing literacy.

Qualifications

• Hands-on transformer testing and repair experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings, scopes, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with transformer oil work and assembly (degassing and oil processing).
• Familiarity with Load Tap Changers and testing standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform transformer testing and troubleshooting, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, and Core Ground
• Support passivation testing and verification of transformer accessories
• Test alarms and system protections in transformers
• Troubleshoot control wiring issues and support repair efforts
• Follow OEM, utility, and end-user testing specifications
• Accurately document test results and generate customer reports
• Operate industrial and construction equipment safely
• Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment
• Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols (spill containment)
• Follow safety and PPE protocols in noisy, high-voltage environments
