Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Transformer Test Technician II with hands-on transformer testing and repair experience to support mission-critical power projects across the U.S. This field-based role focuses on executing and documenting advanced electrical tests and troubleshooting for a wide range of OEM transformers.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of transformer testing or services experience.
• Experience with transformer oil work and assembly including degassing and oil processing.
• Strong understanding of Load Tap Changers.
• Ability to read technical drawings, scopes, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience disposing units in line with environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform transformer testing and troubleshooting, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, and Core Ground.
• Support passivation testing and verification of transformer accessories.
• Test alarms and system protections in transformers.
• Troubleshoot control wiring issues and support repair efforts.
• Follow OEM, utility, and end-user testing specifications.
• Accurately document test results and generate customer reports.
• Operate industrial and construction equipment safely.
• Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Adhere to all company safety and environmental protocols.
• Follow safety and PPE protocols in noisy, hazardous environments.
