Job Summary: The technician will perform repair work at customer job sites on a wide variety of equipment, ranging from complete machine overhauls to minor repairs such as fixing leaks, changing fluids, and filters. Other repairs may include rebuilding components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, and hydraulic pumps. Some locations have test equipment to dyno test engines, hydraulic pumps, and transmissions. Installations may include undercarriage on track machines, attachments on plumbing excavators for hammers or scalers, quick coupler attachments on loaders, excavators, and backhoes.

Job Responsibilities

1. Troubleshoot equipment problems and diagnose failures.
2. Perform diagnostic functions, check pressures, voltages, and locate sources of noise or vibration.
3. Disassemble machines, order parts, make repairs, reassemble, and check operation to ensure repairs are complete, with no leaks, and the unit is work-ready.
4. Clean parts, scrape gaskets, and prepare for assembly.
5. Travel regionally daily in a company vehicle.
6. Maintain safety requirements.
7. Travel to job sites and vendor training sessions as needed.
8. Work overtime as needed.

Job Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent; a 2-year technical degree, military training, or comparable experience is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years experience in the heavy equipment industry or a related field.
3. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills and basic mathematical skills.
5. Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office and diagnostic programs from manufacturers.
6. Good knowledge of equipment operations, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
7. Ability to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist, and lift up to 70 lbs.
8. Ability to climb and work at heights up to 20 feet.
9. Ability to work in all weather conditions.
10. Self-starter capable of working with limited supervision.
11. Maintain excellent customer service.
12. Ability to pass background, physical, and drug screens.
