Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for Demand Field Service in Process Automation Energy Industries Service. Demand Field Service Technician Trainees perform service in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will work closely with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point of contact while delivering quality service. The role is based in Greater Houston, TX or Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, LA, and requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, depending on customer and contract requirements. The work model is: #LI - Remote.

This role contributes to the Process Automation Energy Industries Division in the Houston, TX, or Baton Rouge, LA area. Your main responsibilities include:

  1. Providing site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation utilizing ABB Symphony+ or 800xA Distributed Control System.
  2. Performing all periodic, routine, preventive maintenance, and shutdown support as part of your role (additional support from ABB Technical and Advanced Services will be provided when applicable).
  3. Troubleshooting low-complexity tasks related to distributed control system hardware and software issues, and managing technical support requests to optimize system performance.
  4. Maintaining customer database by logging each call and support provided.
  5. Suggesting ABB solutions to enhance system performance and expand the scope of value-added services.
  6. Communicating effectively with all site stakeholders to ensure contracted services meet or exceed expectations.
  7. Responding to customer questions, issues, and inquiries with accuracy and timeliness, and following up to ensure technical advice was effective.
  8. Supporting projects for hardware and software upgrades, system modifications, and additions, both online and offline.

Qualifications for the role
  • Associate's Degree preferred, or high school diploma with comparable military technical training. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 80%.
  • Development and mentorship in providing field service support for ABB Symphony+ or 800xA Distributed Control System.
  • ABB relocation assistance available within the South region if needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, customer focus, and professionalism.
  • Fluent English speaker and valid driver’s license.
  • Legal work authorization to work in the US for ABB.
