Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Field Technician III to lead crews in testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of substation equipment across North America. The role emphasizes safety, technical leadership, and collaboration with engineers and project teams on commissioning and field operations.

You will perform advanced testing on high/low voltage systems, mentor junior technicians, and ensure accurate documentation while coordinating daily field activities.

Qualifications

• Pass a pre-employment drug screen as this is a safety sensitive role.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel out of town as required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crews in testing, inspection, and maintenance of high, medium, and low voltage equipment.
• Perform advanced testing and diagnostics on breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical/control system issues using schematics and diagrams.
• Direct repair, replacement, and maintenance activities to restore equipment functionality.
• Support installation and commissioning activities including functional testing and system verification.
• Interpret test results, identify abnormalities, and escalate with corrective actions.
• Review field documentation and maintain accurate test reports and logs.
• Coordinate daily field activities with engineers, PMs, and other crews for efficient execution.
• Mentor and train junior technicians on safety and best practices.
