Job summary

Electric Power Systems, a NETA-accredited electrical testing and engineering firm, is seeking a Field Technician II in Riverside, CA. You will perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation equipment with increasing independence, while upholding strict safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have a degree or military experience in electrical tech, 2–4 years in the industry, and NETA II certification, with the ability to travel as needed for assignments across North America.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety sensitive position.
• Background check required.
• Willing to work overtime and travel out of town for periods.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies; use PPE in substation environments.
• Participate in safety meetings and hazard mitigation.
• Support safety culture through reporting and lessons learned.
• Test high/medium/low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect and maintain breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot issues using schematics and manuals; escalate as needed.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on electrical components.
• Assist with commissioning to verify readiness for service.
• Document testing, maintenance, and repair work per requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities safely.
• Maintain tools and work areas to standards.
