Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. You will troubleshoot, document results, and support commissioning activities while upholding safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have a technical degree or military background, NETA II certification, 2–4 years of relevant experience, and the ability to travel for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
• Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• 2–4 years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
• Bachelor’s/Associate degree or military experience in electrical technology or related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company safety policies and PPE requirements in substation environments.
• Actively participate in safety training, meetings, and job briefings; identify hazards and contribute to mitigation efforts.
• Support and promote a strong safety culture through hazard reporting and safe work practices.
• Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect, test, and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals; escalate as needed.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance, including repair, replacement, and adjustment of electrical components.
• Execute functional checks and assist with commissioning activities to verify equipment readiness for service.
• Accurately document testing, maintenance, and repair work per project requirements.
• Work with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities safely and efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure readiness and compliance with standards.
