Job summary

EPS is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and accurate documentation while working with engineers and senior technicians.

Travel and overtime may be required; strong troubleshooting, a read of schematics, and hands-on maintenance are essential. The candidate should hold relevant electrical experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen for safety-sensitive role.
• Background check required and satisfactory upon review.
• Willingness to OT and travel out of town for periods.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies and PPE usage in substation environments.
• Participate in safety trainings, meetings, and job briefings; identify hazards and mitigate.
• Support safety culture through hazard reporting and lessons learned.
• Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect, test, and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, batteries, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot issues using schematics and manuals; escalate as needed.
• Conduct routine and corrective maintenance; repair and replace components.
• Assist commissioning activities to verify equipment readiness for service.
• Document testing and maintenance per company and project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians for efficient field work.
• Maintain tools and work areas to standards.
