Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and the ability to troubleshoot while working with engineers and senior technicians.

The candidate will document activities, operate with minimal supervision, and participate in commissioning activities to verify equipment readiness for service.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen is required for safety-sensitive work.
• Background check is required for employment.
• Overtime and travel to job sites may be required.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and use PPE in substation environments.
• Participate in safety training and job briefings; identify hazards and help mitigate risks.
• Support a strong safety culture through hazard reporting and lessons learned.
• Test high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, batteries, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot issues using schematics and manuals; escalate as needed.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance, including repairs and adjustments.
• Execute functional checks and assist commissioning to verify readiness for service.
• Document testing and maintenance work per project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities safely.
• Maintain tools and workspace to standards.
