Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) seeks a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and hands-on problem solving while supporting commissioning activities.

Responsibilities include testing high/low voltage equipment, inspecting breakers/transformers, troubleshooting issues, and documenting work. Travel may be required; a strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

Must pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety-sensitive position.
Background check required for employment.
Willingness to overtime and travel out of town.
Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred.
Understanding of LOTO / arc flash / grounding concepts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all safety policies and PPE requirements in substation environments.
Participate in safety training, meetings, and job briefings; help identify hazards.
Support safety culture through hazard reporting and safe work practices.
Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
Inspect, test, and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematics and manuals; escalate complex problems.
Perform routine and corrective maintenance, including repairs and adjustments.
Execute functional checks and assist commissioning activities to verify readiness for service.
Document testing, maintenance, and repairs accurately per project requirements.
Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities efficiently and safely.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to standards.
