Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Field Technician II to support data centers and POPs, performing physical rack-and-stack, installation, repair, and testing, and coordinating with network teams and local vendors. This role requires travel and hands-on work in telecom infrastructure.

You will maintain quality at data centers, conduct site surveys, assist with equipment staging, and ensure compliance with MOPs and standards, while collaborating with LECs, landlords, and engineers.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with 2–5 years of related experience.
• Ability to build productive internal and external relationships.
• Judgment within defined procedures to determine actions.
• Knowledge of data center and POP infrastructure and related cabling, power, and environmental controls.
• Experience with telecom/network equipment such as DWDMs, routers, IP switches, and optical/digital infrastructure.
• Understanding of splicing and working in manhole, vault, or handhole environments.
• Familiarity with telecom testing equipment and SONET/Ethernet bandwidth testing.
• Ability to work with LECs, landlords, electricians, and other technicians.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high quality standards across data center locations and POPs.
• Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing with attention to quality.
• Assist with card adds/replacements, software upgrades, and testing.
• Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and asset quality.
• Provide site survey support for OSP/ISP projects and equipment deployments.
• Conduct site audits and resolve data discrepancies in coordination with teams.
• Coordinate with local construction vendors to ensure compliance with MOPs and standards.
• Meet with LEC and other technicians to enable timely work.
• Perform site surveys for network builds, augments, or decommissions.
• Assist with site access, equipment staging, and related tasks.
• Other duties as required.
