Job summary

Astreya Partners, LLC is seeking a Field Technician II to support data centers and POPs, coordinating with network teams and local vendors for installation, repair, and maintenance activities. The role requires deep knowledge of rack and stack configurations and travel.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years’ related experience, hands-on hardware and ITSM familiarity, and a commitment to high quality standards in the telecommunications industry.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent plus 2–5 years of related experience.
• Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships.
• Ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices.
• Deep knowledge of data center and POP infrastructure including OSP/ISP cabling, power, environmental controls.
• Experience installing and maintaining telecom/network equipment (DWDM, backbone and management routers, IP switches).
• Understanding of splicing and operation within manholes, vaults, handholes.
• Knowledge of telecom testing equipment (OTDRs, meters) and testing across SONET/Ethernet.
• Knowledge of testing standards (length, wire-mapping, BER, delay, loss).
• Knowledge of state/local regulatory standards and permitting.
• Ability to work with LEC and telecom providers, landlords, electricians.
• Independent work capability with minimal supervision.
• Experience with spreadsheets, workflow and project management apps, and admin software.
• Understanding of how to use a Tier-1 ITSM platform.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest quality standards in all data center locations and POPs.
• Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing with meticulous attention to quality.
• Assist with card adds or replacements, software upgrades, and testing.
• Suggest process improvements impacting network assets or efficiency.
• Provide site survey support for OSP/ISP projects and equipment deployments.
• Perform site audits and reconcile data discrepancies with Network Surveillance.
• Coordinate with local construction vendors to ensure MOPs compliance.
• Meet with LEC and other technicians to facilitate timely installations and maintenance.
• Conduct site surveys for network builds, augments, or decommissions.
• Assist in coordinating site access, equipment staging, and related tasks.
• Other duties as required.
