Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Field Technician II to provide hands-on support at data centers and Points of Presence (POPs). You will coordinate with network teams and vendors for installation, repair and maintenance, with deep knowledge of physical rack and stack deployments.

The role requires travel and involves performing site surveys, audits, and coordination with multiple groups to ensure high quality network assets. Strong problem-solving and independent work abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent with 2–5 years related experience or equivalent
• Experience with data center and POP infrastructure and interfacility cabling
• Knowledge of DWDM, backbone routers, IP switches and optical/digital telecom infrastructure
• Understanding of splicing and manhole/vault environments
• Familiarity with telecom testing equipment (OTDR, meters) and SONET/Ethernet testing standards

Responsibilities

• Maintain top quality across data center locations and remote POPs.
• Perform physical installation, repair, maintenance and testing with care for quality standards.
• Assist in card adds/replacements, software upgrades and testing.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance network asset quality and efficiency.
• Provide site surveys for OSP/ISP projects and equipment deployments.
• Coordinate site access, staging, and vendor activities as needed.
• Work with LECs and technicians to schedule installations and maintenance.
• Conduct site surveys for network builds, augments, or decommissions.
