Job summary

Lumen Technologies in Indianapolis is seeking a Field Technician I to manage asset processes, deliveries, and shipping/receiving of materials. You will maintain tools and equipment, install and test transmission gear, and help restore service during outages while ensuring network integrity.

This role requires 1+ years in network monitoring or installation, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license. On-site duties involve lifting, varied weather, and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 1+ years related experience in network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Experience with transmission (DS0–OC192), switching, TCP/IP, and outside plant concepts is preferred.
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, rights-of-way, and as-builts.
• Must maintain site security and cleanliness and have PC skills including Windows and Office.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment and replaces defective parts; coordinates with teams to restore service.
• Assist in installation, testing, and decommissioning of NG technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, IP).
• Locate, mark, and protect underground facilities using standard tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance on network infrastructure including HVAC and DC power systems.
• Update logs and inventory records; provide status reports to management.
