Job summary

Western States Equipment Company in Idaho is seeking a skilled technician to diagnose and repair heavy equipment, interpreting performance tests and determining repair scope. Work may occur in the field, shop, or at customer sites, including overtime and overnight assignments.

Candidates will rely on Caterpillar system knowledge, own required tools, and must meet DOT and CDL requirements. A strong focus on safety, professional communication, and customer care is expected.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or technical training preferred.
• Five years diagnosis/repair of heavy equipment experience.
• Must own required tools and have CDL with air brake experience.
• Must meet DOT requirements and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct machine performance and diagnostic tests to determine repair scope.
• Repair and diagnose failures in field, shop, or customer sites; may require overtime.
• Apply knowledge of Caterpillar system diagnostics for repairs on new equipment.
• Repair machines within time guidelines and document service reports.
• Communicate issues and resolution plans to customers during repairs.
• Order parts and manage paperwork and time entry daily.
