Job summary

Western States is seeking a field/service technician to diagnose and repair heavy equipment, including Caterpillar systems, in field and shop settings. You will interpret diagnostic results, perform repairs, and ensure adherence to time guidelines while maintaining safety and professionalism.

The role involves travel to customer sites, possible overnight assignments, and handling parts orders and service documentation. Strong English communication and DOT-compliant CDL are required.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or technical training preferred.
• Five years experience in diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment in field, shop, or at customer locations; interpret tests and decide repair extent.
• Repair within TRG guidelines and escalate unresolved issues as needed.
• Order parts and evaluate reuse and failure causes.
• Complete service reports and time entries; submit daily.
• Communicate issues and repair plans to customers during service.
• Maintain safety and professional conduct on site and in vehicles.
