Job summary

Western States Equipment Company seeks an experienced heavy equipment technician to diagnose and repair machines in the field, shop, or at customer sites. You will perform performance tests, interpret results, and decide repair scope while meeting time guidelines.

Responsibilities include ordering parts, submitting service reports, and communicating status to customers. A CDL with air brake is required, plus Caterpillar knowledge and ability to work overtime when needed.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Associate degree or technical training from a vocational school preferred.
• Five years experience in diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment; Caterpillar preferred.
• Knowledge of scrapers, crawler tractors, loaders, excavators, and off-highway trucks.
• CDL with air brake experience and acceptable driving record; DOT requirements.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Responsibilities

• Conduct machine performance and diagnostic tests and decide repair scope.
• Repair and diagnose machine and attachment failures per TRG standards.
• Escalate unresolved issues for further research.
• Repair machines and adhere to time guidelines.
• Order parts and evaluate reusability and cause of failure.
• Complete service reports and time entries; report daily via email.
• Communicate issues and resolutions to customers during repairs.
• Maintain professional image and safety standards.
