Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C. in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Construction Field Technician to join our hands-on CMT team. This outdoors role involves traveling to active sites to verify soils, concrete, and other materials meet project specifications, supporting engineers and inspectors.

No prior testing experience is required; we provide training and pay for industry certifications. We offer a range of benefits and opportunities to grow in civil construction and infrastructure inspection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Interest in construction, engineering, or field work.
• Comfortable outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Travel to Fredericksburg construction sites to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other materials.
• Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects.
• Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures.
• Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports.
• Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions.
• Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards.
